I went to Greece first and fell in love with Santorini immediately.
Like genuinely. I arrived in Santorini and I was like “okay this is it, this is where I’m living, I’m not leaving.”
The blue domes, the white buildings, the sunset, the sea, everything was exactly what I’d imagined.
Then there were like five thousand other people with the same idea.
Like literally thousands. Walking through the streets. Taking the same photos from the same angles. Waiting in lines for restaurants. Packed ferries.
I’m standing there trying to have this romantic moment and I’m literally shoulder to shoulder with people from all over the world also trying to have their romantic moment.
Then six months later I went to Croatia. Dubrovnik specifically.
I expected the same situation. Loads of tourists. Packed. Chaos.
It was busy but like… less insane? Less densely packed with people?
I could actually walk through the city without getting hit by someone’s selfie stick.
That made a difference honestly.
